Sued

Orthodox Christians who have been sued for abuse or for sexual misconduct, that is, for behavior which is inconsistent with Orthodox teachings on sexuality, are listed here.

Lawsuits for damages in the United States do not require the same level of proof as in the criminal justice system. The plaintiff only has to prove that it is more likely than not that the defendant acted as alleged.

Foreign lawsuits may have different standards of proof.

We also include civil actions that did not proceed to trial.

Please read each file to determine exactly what occurred in each case.

We strive for accuracy. Consequently, if you have information that contradicts what is posted here, please share that information with us. You can expedite the correction process by providing documentation to support your contention.
