Father ”Konan” was a monk in a Michigan monastery (ROCOR) where he was convicted of repeatedly raping and having oral sex with two of the boys who lived there. One of the victims was the adopted son of the monastery's abbot, Father Gabriel Loynes.
Lasky fled Michigan and became a fugitive of justice, where he was harbored by St. Irene's Monastery in Astoria, New York. In 1991, after Lasky's conviction, Father Gabriel (having relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio) wrote a letter inviting a three-time convicted criminal, Samuel David Allen, to his monastery. This letter is in court documents supporting Allen's attempt to plead leniency by claiming a monastic vocation which would remove him from the temptation of molesting children. Father Gabriel failed to mention the children in residence at the monastery.

In May, 2002, Pokrov found out that Lasky absconded authorities. He was ”flagged” by the Michigan State Police after they discovered Lasky had given them a false address: 3855 Cooper Rd. Jackson MI. Mr. Lasky is required to register with authorities as a sex offender. He has not been located on any Sex Offender Registry. Lasky served a 15 year sentence for sexually assaulting 3 boys at an Orthodox Monastery in Schwartz Creek MI that ran a foster home for ”at risk” youth. Lasky was arrested in Astoria NY in 1988 at St. Irene Chrysovalanyou Monastery where he was harbored while fleeing these charges from the state of Michigan. A Pokrov reader notified us of Lasky's current address, and we passed along the information to the Michigan State Police. In November of 2002, Pokrov received a letter from the Michigan State Police indicating that Lasky had been located.
