Father Jeremiah Hitt was a monk at the now defunct Christ of the Hills Monastery (COTH) in Blanco, Texas, in 1999, the year he was accused of molesting an 11 year old boy who was a novice at the monastery. At the time, COTH belonged to the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia.
After a jury trial, Hitt was convicted of 8 counts of indecency with a child in 1999, and was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
In 2006, while Hitt was still in prison, he was accused of molesting another 11 year old novice at COTH. Hitt pleaded guilty to this charge on February 13, 2009. However, he was not sentenced to any additional time in prison for this offense.
Hitt was released from prison in 2009. He is registered as a sex offender in the state of Texas under his legal name, Jonathan Irving Hitt.
